Matt Sedillo with Iris De Anda
Tonight we present two young, Los Angeles based poets. Matt Sedillo, a Chicano poet, writer, creative director and public intellectual, has been named “poet laureate of the struggle” by Paul Ortiz and “the best political poet in America by journalist Greg Pallast. He is current literary director of the dA Center for the Arts in Pomona, California and joins us tonight to read from his collection, Mowing Leaves of Grass (FlowerSong Books).

Also joining us tonight is Guanaca Tapatia poet and musician Iris De Anda. A native of Los Angeles, she uses her art to connect to issues of social justice. She is the author of Codeswith: Fires from Mi Corazon and the host of 100 Segundos de Soledad on La Banda Elastica Radio. She is the host of The Writers Underground Open Mic. She has been featured in the LA Times and presented at Casa de Las Americas in Cuba.
