Geraldine Mills with Elizabeth Austen & Susan Rich

It’s our pleasure to once again welcome Galway poet and short story writer Geraldine Mills back to Elliott Bay Book Company. Here in Seattle for a short residency at Highline College, she’ll read from her book, Bone Road (Arlen House/Syracuse University Press). Bone Road is a verse memoir charting the course of her great-grandparents’ emigration from Elly Bay in County Mayo, Ireland, to Rhode Island in 1883 as part of the Tuke Emigration Scheme. Conditions in the U.S. led to their return to Ireland.  Geraldine Mills’ books include Paddy Lambe's in Paradise, Gold and An Urgency of Stars. Also reading this afternoon are Seattle poets Elizabeth Austen, Washington State Poet Laureate (2014-2016) and PEN USA Award winner Susan Rich, author most recently of Cloud Pharmacy. Susan Rich teaches at Highline College, where she curates the reading series, Highline Listens: Writers Read Their Work.
